A LOUISVILLE EVENT FOCUSED ON PEACE
PIECE BY PIECE
Louisville Peace Piece by Peace is an event that will bring together Louisvillians who have lost loved ones to violence, who are gunshot wound survivors, or who have suffered extreme violence - including first responders. In a powerful symbolic action, they will literally create a foundational monument – a Table of Peace – with representatives of these groups contributing elements to the mosaic surface of the structure.
Louisville Peace Piece by Piece is designed to build community and understanding with a focus on the immediate issue of the relationships between diverse individuals affected by violence in our city. It also recognizes violence as an issue that we can only address together.
The event will call attention to these key issues across the community and will demonstrate Louisville’s unique commitment to be a compassionate city. Much has been done in the interest of acting upon our community-wide commitment to compassion, ensuring we aren’t just talking about it, but we’re doing something to make a difference. Louisville Peace Piece by Piece is a focused attempt to bring particular attention to issues of violence in Louisville through action.

EVENT LOCATON
We have witnessed a world in which violence and killing have become a common response to disagreements and a lack of understanding of “the other”. With every news cycle we are increasingly aware of a tendency to resort to violence on an international, national and even more disturbingly local level.
We are all faced with the simple question, “What can I do about it?” Well, much can and must be done. However, attempting to understand and appreciate each other through a symbolic act of coming together to build a foundation for peace in our own community is a good place to start.
The Louisville Peace Piece By Piece event will take place at 1619 FLUX on Saturday, September 24 with gathering at 12:30 and program from 1:00 to 3:00pm.
